Before travelling to England for the start of the Tour de France, Alberto Contador and the 8 teammates that will support him in the race, have done a recon ride over the cobbles that will be used in stage 5. The Spaniard was pleased with his feelings and used the occasion to test his material.
Today the nine riders of Tinkoff-Saxo Team, along with Oleg Tinkov, recognized the fifth stage of the Tour de France, which includes nine sectors of cobbles, before travelling to England where they will arrive tonight.
Alberto Contador, Nicolas Roche, Michael Rogers, Rafal Majka, Sergio Paulinho, Daniele Bennati, Jesus Hernandez, Matteo Tosatto and Michael Morkov, under the supervision of Bjarne Riis, took advantage of a sunny day with a pleasant temperature for the last workout before flying to Leeds in the private jet of the team’s owner.
“We've done a good training session and the sensations over the cobbles have been very good. The same goes for the material, thanks to the the Specialized ‘Roubaix’ and 40 mm ‘Roval’ wheels," said Alberto Contador.
When the Tour de France last visited the Paris-Roubaix cobbles in 2010, Contador lost time to key rival Andy Schleck but gained time on most of the other GC contenders.
