Alberto Contador has announced that he will retire after the 2016 season but the Spaniard has again repeated that there is an open door for him to stay in the peloton. The Tinkoff leader claims that Fabio Aru is the current rider that resembles him the most but there is no new Contador yet, he most resemble him, but a new Contador is not there yet, he said in an exclusive interview puclished by the Alberto Contador Foundation.
"Currently, there is no one who resembles me one hundred percent," says El Pistolero. "I can say that Fabio Aru looks like me in some aspects. But while there is no one like me, there will hopefully come one from my foundation. The juniors or U23 riders."
Contador has already tried to win the Giro-Tour double twice but has failed in both attempts. "A grand tour win is difficult enough, but two in a row is ten times harder," says the 33-year-old climber who refuses the suggestion that it is an impossible task.
Next season Contador will not go for the double. He focuss fully on the Tour de France in what is perhaps his final season. The Spaniard does not see himself as a big favorite. Already looking forward to the battle for the overall win, he finds it difficult to choose between Chris Froome and Nairo Quintana. "But if I have to name one, I will say Froome."
