Since its beginning last Thursday the Copenhagen Six Days has been beset by illness and yesterday health problems in the peloton once again haunted the organisers. Belgian Jasper De Buyst had been leading the race right from the start together with Danish team mate Marc Hester but yesterday he was force to abandon the race due to a high fever. Hester was then paired with another Belgian, the 21-year old Otto Vergaerde but they were unable to keep up with the best teams in last night’s dreaded handicap Madison.
Austrians Müller and Graf made all their experience count and dominated the early stages of the Madison – with a lot of help from the remaining Germans in the peloton – but in the end Kenny De Ketele and Moreno De Pauw emerged as the dominant force, repeatedly attacking their main rivals and putting them under a lot of pressure.
The Belgians lead going into the final evening but Alex Rasmussen and Jesper Mørkøv will most likely gain a bonus lap before the decisive Madison and thus reclaim the lead. Tuesday evening promises to be an exciting conclusion to the 2015-16 Six Days season.
