“Both these guys have shown their top form in the Vuelta and if they are having a good day then both these fast guys will be there for the finish, but it obviously all depend on how hard the race is over the climbs.”

ORICA-BikeExchange continue racing in Italy this week at the one-day race Tre Valli Varesine on Tuesday 27th September.

The Australian outfit have previously tasted success in this race when Swiss rider Michael Albasini won the event back in 2014 as the team return this year with a balanced eight-rider squad hoping to achieve victory once again.

The diverse group consists of former winner Albasini and recent Vuelta a España stage winners Magnus Cort and Jens Keukeleire. Tour de France white jersey winner Adam Yates brings climbing legs to the squad along with Spaniards Ruben Plaza and Amets Txurruka.

“We have a good mixed team for this race including Albasini who has won this race in the past,” said Dave McPartland. “Then we have Cort and if he can get around this course then he will be one of the fastest guys left at the end along with Keukeleire.

“Both these guys have shown their top form in the Vuelta and if they are having a good day then both these fast guys will be there for the finish, but it obviously all depend on how hard the race is over the climbs.”

The 96th edition finishes in Varese after 192kilometres of racing which begins with a 77kilometres loop followed by finishing laps of 12.3kilometres.

Powerhouse Mitch Docker and talented climber Jack Haig balance and round up the strong ORICA-BikeExchange team for the tough one-day Italian race.

“It will be a mixed bag and a less predictable race than the races over the weekend,” continued McPartland. “Albasini has proven himself before, however the course varies a little bit each year but he will certainly still be a key guy for us.”
