The young Danish talent Magnus Cort won the opening stage of the Tour of Denmark. It is the second year in a row the talent wins the opener in Denmark. He won the stage ahead of Jasper De Buyst of Topsport Vlaanderen and Valerio Agnoli of Astana.
In an interview with the Feltet.dk, who talked to the leading rider of the UCI Europe Tour after the stage, he said he was a bit tired at the end of the sprint.
”It was a long sprint and the legs were really tired. I didn’t have that much power in the end and I was afraid that somebody had something to shoot with, but there wasn’t,” Magnus Cort explained to CyclingQuotes.com.
When Feltet.dk asked Cort about his chances in the overall GC, he had his doubts. The reason for this is the GC, where he think he will have some troubles sticking to the top riders.
“It’s clear that I will stick to the GC and see how far it can reach, but I think I will have some trouble with following the best on the TT. This stage was the one that suited me the most if you look at the stage profiles,” he continued.
Magnus Cort also gave a comment on his season so far, which has given him 12 victories. His amazing season has given him a contract with Orica-GreenEDGE.
“I have had a crazy season so far and taking the opening stage here on the first stage - that’s crazy. It is simply amazing,” he finished to CyclingQuotes.com.
