After attending the official presentations of the Giro d’Italia and the Tour de France, Team Colombia General ManagerClaudio Corti could not miss the official unveiling of the third Grand Tour of the year, the Vuelta a Espana, taking place today – January 10th, 2015 – in Torremolinos, Costa del Sol, Spain.
Just like it happened in the last few years, the Spanish race – starting on August 22nd with a team time trial in Puerto Banus and finishing in capital Madrid onSeptember 13th) will be characterized by mountains, with no less than 9 uphill finishes – all unprecedented – and 44 overall categorized climbs. Still, it could be the pan-flat 39 km time trial in Burgos that could say the last word on the GC.
“The Vuelta will be similar to the ones we saw in the last years: very selective, with short and very tough stages. A race for real climbers. We came by the sea to find out the route, but most of the race will happen on the mountains,” Corti said, and before leaving back to Italy, he had the time to visit the Crocodiles Park in Torremolinos. “After all, the Vuelta 2015 might well be a fierce battle of crocodiles,” laughs Corti.
