Team LAMPRE-MERIDA delivered an impressive performance in the team time trial at the Tour de France. In the 9th stage of the, the team finished 8th, covering the hilly course in 33'03" (average speed 50.832 km/h).
The blue-fuchsia-green riders were perfect in keeping a high pace and gauging their effort well. A fact that can give an idea of the good performance by the team is that they did the second best performance on the final climb, just behind BMC.
Froome is still the yellow jersey and Rui Costa is 23rd at 5'20".
"I think we did a good team time trial," Costa wrote in his personal blog. "The strategy was to have only the necessary five riders at the finish. My job was to pull in the hardest part and make the most of the climbs. Therefore, I was on the limit in the finale but I stayed with my teammates. My left leg and back still hurt.
"Finally we will take a rest tomorrow. It will be essential to gave a break and recover from our injuries."
