The Vuelta a España will start tomorrow from Vilanova de Arousa with a team time-trial of 27,4 km. The AG2R LA MONDIALE team lines up with legitimate ambitions.
Currently in a positive spiral, the French team has two main goals: stage wins and to place a rider in the Top 10 overall. The team is led by two leaders: Domenico Pozzovivo and Carlos Betancur. The Italian-Colombian duo has already proved that it can obtain great results on the last Giro d’Italia. The Colombian rider will focus on stage wins, while Domenico will aim at the general classification.
They will be supported by a strong team built around them with some experienced riders with different qualities: Rinaldo Nocentini, Julien Bérard, Steve Chainel, Mikael Cherel, BenGastauer, Matteo Montaguti and Lloyd Mondory who should also play his personal card in case of sprint finish.
Domenico Pozzovivo talks about his goals in the Vuelta a España: “It has been over a year since I didn’t win and I would like to get a stage win during this Vuelta a España. There are many “bump arrivals” and some very difficult stages, it is a route that suits me well. Above all, I will be focus to do well on the overall classification. I was 10th in the last Giro d’Italia and I hope for a Top 5 in this Vuelta. Moreover, everyone knows that I’m not a fan of harsh weather conditions and that I like warm weather. I think we should find good weather forecast in Spain that can permit me to do my best.”
