Having finished fourth in stage 2, Daniel Schorn was targeting a top result in today's morning stage of the Tour of Denmark. However, a late crash derailed the plans for the Austrian.
Michael Schwarzmann sprinted into 14th place in today's morning stage of the Tour of Denmark. The stage win went once again to Andreas Guardini (Astana) in the sprint by the very extended bunch, ahead of Tom van Asbroeck (Topsport Vlaanderen – Baloise) and Filippo Fortini (Bardiani – CSF). Daniel Schorn managed to defend his place in the top ten of the overall classification and he is now ninth. In the evening there will be a 15-kilometer time trial which will decide the outcome of the tour.
"The guys were involved in a crash. Nothing actually happened, but our preparations were really thrown off by this. They didn't manage to get together again in the final stretch, so the sprint didn't go as well as it might have. Michael still got into 14th place. Daniel and Andreas [Schillinger] lost no time in the overall classification and they are still within striking distance. Both of them will ride flat out for all 15 kilometers in this evening's time trial," says Andre Schulze between the day's two stages.
