Today Cult Energy Pro Cycling took part in the 70th edition of Omloop Het Nieuwsblad. The 200 kilometer race had its start and finish in the Belgian city of Ghent.
Ian Stannard (Team Sky) defended his title in Omloop Het Nieuwsblad with an impressive ride against the might of Etixx-QuickStep who had three riders in the front group. The British rider beat Niki Terptra (Etixx) in a two-up sprint.
“The objective was to show the jersey in the front of the race and Michael Reihs fulfilled that goal beautifully," sports director Luke Roberts said. "We are a small team with only a few race kilometers in the legs and up again World Tour teams who had done a few stage races already. So I am content and I know this experience on the Belgium cobbles will be useful later."
