According to Danish media (Avisen.dk), CULT CEO Brian Sorensen will receive a punitive tax bill of 1.27 million euros. The Supreme Court of Denmark which published a ruling before Christmas, has denied his claims that he lived primarily outside of the country and that he had actually "stayed in Denmark to a significantly greater extent than he stated."
The reports add that the charges date back to the tax years 2007-2009. Investigators explained that thanks to electricity bills for the cottage, they can prove that he stayed more in Denmark than claimed. Indeed, this bill was higher than what would be found in a house used for vacation. They determined that more than half of the calls from his mobile phone were made from Denmark.
The CULT Energy team had troubles paying its riders' salaries. A few weeks, CULT decided to abruptly stop its sponsorship for the coming year, claiming that new partner Stölting Service Group had not fulfilled its obligations. Stölting have denied the accusations, claiming that CULT was looking for a way to get out of a contract that they couldn't afford. The team will continue as Stölting in 2016.
