According to Italian media, Cycling Australia have announced a long-lost for the upcoming World Championships held in Ponferrada, Spain. Australia is one of the nine nations allowed to line up in the road race with nine-rider roster, which are going to be chosen from eighteen already pre-selected names.
Sixteen riders from WorldTour squads made it through the pre-selection, particularly Simon Clarke, Luke Durbridge, Simon Gerrans, Mathew Hayman, Michael Hepburn, Michael Matthews and Cameron Meyer (GreenEDGE-Orica), Rohan Dennis and Cadel Evans (BMC), Nathan Earle and Richie Porte (Sky), Jay McCarthy and Rory Sutherland (Saxo-Tinkoff), Nathan Haas (Garmin-Sharp), Adam Hansen (Lotto Belisol) and David Tanner (Belkin). Riding for Pro Continental outfits Zakkari Dempster (NetApp-Endura) and Heinrich Haussler (IAM Cycling) complete the list.
In preparation for the World Championships to Ponferrada 2014, Australia announced a pre-selection of 18 men, which will be chosen from the nine participants in the test line and the two runners taking part in the trial.
In addition to that, Australia is allowed to line up with two riders in the individual time trial.
