After signing Stefan Schumacher and Grega Bole, CCC Polsat continue the strengthening of their roster. Today the team has announced the signing of the talented Czech Jan Hirt.
23-year old Czech talent Jan Hirt has signed a deal with the “orange” team. He is the next international rider who has joined the Polkowice-based squad.
In 2014 season Hirt was riding for the U23 Etixx outfit which is the satellite team of Omega Pharma-Quick Step. Prior to that he was representing Leopard Trek Continental for two seasons.
As a junior, in 2008, he took amstage win at the Swiss Tour du Pays de Vaud. Next season he finished next season with 3 important victories – he took the Czech National road race title and a stage and the general classification of the GP General Patton (held in Luxembourg). He turned pro in 2012 when he signed with Leopard Trek Continental Team. His first season in the professional peloton was not easy but he still managed to get a few solid results (e.g. in the Tour of Slovakia). Next year was much more successful. He won a stage at Tour de Azerbaijan and Czech Cycling Tour. He was also second in the prologue of the Volta a Portugal em Bicicleta Liberty Seguros and in the final GC of the Peace Race U23. In the Tour Alsace Hirt was close to making the final podium in the overall standing and finished 4th. He showed great capabilities in the prestigious Settimana Ciclistica Lombarda by Bergamasca where he claimed 7th place.
After moving to the Czech team Etixx, Hirt added another stage victory in the Czech Cycling Tour and was 8th overall. He was also third in the Tour Alsace and GP Kralovehradeckeho kraje. The 23-year old took part in a couple of Polish races. He was 6th in the Szlakiem Grodow Piastowskich. At the Czech Championships the young rider was twice in contention for medals – 5th in the time trial and 6th in the road race.
Jan Hirt signed a two-year deal.
