USADA (US Ant-Doping Agency) have confirmed that Tom Danielson’s B sample has also tested positive for an anabolic agent. The Cannondale-Garmin rider has been very quiet since his A sample tested positive on August 3.
“Given that Mr. Danielson has already spoken publicly about it, I can confirm that his adverse analytical finding was for an anabolic agent,” USADA spokesperson Annie Skinner told CyclingTips.
“The “B” sample is tested as quickly as possible after the athlete is notified of the “A” sample. In Mr. Danielson’s case, the “B” sample was tested less than four days after the athlete was notified of the “A” sample positive.”
It appears the 37 year old may face a ban at worst, at best he will need to find a new team for 2016, as his team has announced its full roster for next year. If he is guilty, the reason no ban has come his way so far is due to an investigation into third-party tampering e.g someone did something to make Danielson consume the anabolic agent like spiking food/drink.
