Today’s Giro del Trentino queen stage was dominated by a long-lasting breakaway consisting of six riders including CULT Energy Pro Cycling’s Rasmus Quaade. In the difficult finale, Team Sky took control of things and Richie Porte distanced his nearest rivals for the stage win.
 

CULT Energy Pro Cycling’s Rasmus Quaade went away in the early part of today’s second stage of the Italian stage race Giro del Trentino. The front group made it to the final and mountainous part of the stage where it starting disintegrating. Eventually, Sky’s Richie Porte launched a deadly attack and took a convincing solo victory.

DS André Steensen reports:

“Rasmus was in an attacking mode from the gun and he made several attempts before finally succeeding getting away. They found a good pace and working well together they managed to stay out until the terrain starting to get hilly. Realistically, we had a feeling it wouldn’t last but you never know and after all, this experience has been good for Rasmus."

The race ends Friday.
