On the day before the first rest day, the tenth stage in this Vuelta brings the peloton from Valencia to Castellón. In a short stage the riders have to cover 146.6 kilometres and they will tackl two climbs. The final climb is at about 20 kilometres from the finish, so the question will be how the sprinters will deal with it. Jasper De Buyst gives a small preview.
“Today’s stage is really short and it’s the final stage before the first rest day, which everyone is longing for," he said. "There are definitely several riders who will try something in this stage. There are two ascents on the course, one after 30 kilometres and one at about twenty kilometres from the finish.
"A break can make it to the finish but it’s also possible that a sprint with a select group will occur. We’ll have to wait to see who is willing to pull at the front of the peloton and who will have intentions to do something. For myself I will see how the stage will evolve, I have a good feeling in this Vuelta. But this is a very unpredictable stage in which many situations can happen.”
