A short, but tough stage is scheduled at the Tour de France. Immediately after the start the riders get to climb the Collet de Tamié, which isn’t categorised. This is followed by four categorised climbs, the stage finishes at Le Bettex.
Thomas De Gendt shares his thoughts.
“My Tour de France has already been successful. We’ll see what’s still possible these last days. Today the road goes uphill immediately. Right after the start we have to climb for seven kilometres. That’s an advantage. When it’s a flat start much more riders are keen on joining the breakaway. Then you might jump along four or five times, take a breath and still miss the right break.
"The polka dot jersey has gone. Majka took points at the right moment and was really strong.”
