The Belgian duo Kenny De Ketele-Moreno De Pauw is on track to win the Six Days of Amsterdam after winning the madison on Saturday.
The 45-minute madision, the second of the penultimate evening, was a locked race for a long time. Danes Hester-Morkov were the first to break the drought when they took a lap. Spaniards Torres-Mora Vedri did the same a little later. That’s when the alarm bell rang for De Ketele-De Pauw when Lampater-Kalz attacked. Swiss Marguet-Imhof bridged the gap to Hester-Morkov who were dropped and later rode away. After a hard battle, the Swiss succeeded in their mission to get a lap.
When Mouris-Ligthart and Kalz-Lampater joined forces, De Ketele-De Pauw responded immediately. With less than 20 minutes left, the Belgians took off. In no time the job was done. Niki Terpstra and Raymond Kreder also opted for the attack which made the audience excited. With 30 laps to go, Ligthart-Mouris tried but that move was neutralized immediately.
With five teams on the same lap, Austrians Graf-Muller also got around and things were decided in the final sprint. Here Imhof-Marguet were the fastest. De Ketele-De Pauw were less concerned as they are on track for the overall win.
Earlier in the evening Marcel Kalz and Leif Lampater had won the team elimination. Kalz beat De Ketele in the sprint.
