According to BiciCiclismo, David de la Fuente (1981) will wear a new jersey in Portugal next season after he has joined the new Sporting Lisbon team that has taken over the structure of the continental team of Club Ciclista Tavira. The Spaniard rider goes into his 14th season.
De la Fuente who rode for Efapel in 2015, will be joined by compatriots Jesus Ezquerra and Mario Gonzalez (Active Jet) and Oscar Gonzalez (Efapel). This year he obtained several victories in Portugal, including a stage victory in the GP Torres Vedras.
The Spaniard supported Contador when he won the 2010 Tour de France - the Spaniard was later disqualified - and Juanjo Cobo during his victory in the 2011 Vuelta a Espana. He has taken four wins: the GP Llodio (2007), a stage of the Tour of Germany (2008), the GP Miguel Indurain (2009) and a stage of the Tour of Qinghai Lake (2013). He was the most aggressive rider at 2006 Tour de France where he was second in the mountains classification. He has done a total of seven Vuelts and three Tours.
He has been riding for Vini Calderola (2003), Saunier Duval (2004-2007), Scott-American Beef (2008), Fuji-Servetto (2009), Astana (2010), Geox (2011), Caja Rural (2012), Torku (2013-2014) and Efapel (2015).
