In their first season in the professional continental division this year, team Delko-Marseille Provence-KTM has had little success. Frédéric Rostaing’s squad was visible in breakaways and only won three races. In an interview with La Provence, Rostaing describes the season as "mixed".” The ambition is increased tenfold for 2017.
"This will be an important year,” he said. “First of all, Marseille will the European capital of sport. Then, we have a lot of things on our agenda, in terms of results, but also to renew partnerships. We want to be very efficient. Most riders have contracts that end in 2017. There are a lot of issues.”
Winning three times this year, twice recently in the Tour of Taihu Lake with Leonardo Duque, Delko-Marseille Provence-KTM obviously want more results in 2017. But the team also wants to continue their move towards the highest level by doing the biggest races. This was the case in 2016 with Paris-Nice, Paris-Roubaix and Fleche Wallonne.
"Today, I think we're ready to tackle a grand tour,” said Rostaing, “especially as the Vuelta will start from Nimes and spend 3 days in France in 2017."
In addition to the Vuelta, the French team aspires to take part in the Tour of Yorkshire but also in Milan-San Remo next year.
