Arnaud Demare wasn’t able to continue his total dominance in the Tour de l’Eurometropole after two consecutive victories in a row. Today, the ambitious Frenchman had to settle with a third race, but he is still in the yellow jersey.
And the reason to why he wasn’t first on the line for the third time in a row might just be the fact that cross wind dominated the stage of today.
"It was a tough race with the wind. We lost a lot of items during the race. In addition, we lost a man in the final train with puncture, Yoann Offredo. The other teams came to lend a hand when it became problematic with 2'20” and twenty kilometers from the finish line,” Demare told Direct Velo.
Demare was delivered on the line by Michael Delage and the duo waited until the absolute last moment to start off their sprint.
“In this sprint, I tried to wait for the last moment with Michael Delage. In fact I still did a long sprint, this is what I wish for my delivery. I took third place and bonuses, so I'm not too disappointed. Tomorrow's race will be totally different with the ascent of Mont Saint-Aubert . This will be an exhausting journey. While there will be one hour less of racing, but some teams may be tired of the efforts made during the first three days,” Demare finished.
