Arnaud Demare once again showed his strong up-going form in the Tour de l’Eurometropole by winning his third stage in the race this year. The result of the stage today means that Demare maintains his lead in the race and is now the overall winner.
This victory was the 14th for the French champion this year and the peloton must now keep an eye on the rider. He will conclude his 2014 campaign in the traditional race Paris-Tours. And it was a very optimistic Demare, who believes in himself after the three wins.
He praises the Belgian race for being a very beautiful one and also praises his team for fighting for the overall GC win today.
"I find this Eurométropole a very beautiful race. Today my teammates did a perfect job to regain the leading group on the final lap. To be honest, I did not think I could win in the sprint today, but my team has made sure that it ends with the sprint. In the final stretch, I got out at the right time. Now I will make a quiet week before tackling my next goal, Paris-Tours. My status as surprising. This really bodes well before next Sunday,” Demare told the Direct Velo.
