The conflict between ASO and UCI has led to new ideas in the cycling world. If the Tour de France is taken off the WorldTour calendar and organized as an HC race, the UCI should consider a move of the Giro d'Italia to July. That’s at least what BMC rider Rohan Dennis thinks. We will "possibly see a massive growth in interest from riders,” he tweeted.
Dennis won this year's opening time trial of the Tour de France in Utrecht and was the first wearer of the yellow jersey. He has never done the Giro.
Last week ASO announced that they would register their races on the Europe Tour calendar in 2007 because of a disagreement with the UCI about the new reforms. It is still unclear what consequences it will have for the races and the WorldTour.
