Before this season, Belgian Dries Devenyns made a big change in his career as he transferred from Omega Pharma - QuickStep to Giant-Shimano. Ahead of the Brabantsje Pijl where he finished just outside top 10, the Belgian said he still hopes to win a classic someday.

In an interview with Antwerp Gazette, the 30-year old said he never felt certainty on his former team, Omega Pharma - QuickStep.

"But I wanted to leave the Flemish courses  in order to drive the races which is my passion," he told the Antwerp Gazette.  "While I was with the team the prices never disappointed the team. Conflicting ambitions did."

Devenyns thinks that he can win a classic even though he is not a winner.

"If Nuyens and Vansummeren can win a classic, it must also succeed for me one day. I think I’m in the same category as these riders."

Dries Devenyns hopes to copy he two top 10 placements in the Brabantse Pijl to the Amstel Gold Race.

"Brabantse Pijl has a beautiful course and I have finished in top 10 twice. Amstel Gold Race inspires me and even though it is more difficult and a little bit harder, I hope to obtain a top 10 in this race as well.”
