The BMC team is stuffed with specialists for the Flemish classics, but still, following his highly promising performances in cobbled races this season, Silvan Dillier received a desired spot in American team’s roster for the Ronde van Vlaanderen alongside the likes of Greg van Avermaet, Thor Hushovd, Taylor Phinney or Marcus Burchardt.

Dillier’s place in BMC roster for the Flemish monument was a well earned one, considering his aggressive attitude proved in the Gent-Wavelgem last week, followed by a satisfying top ten result in the Driedaagse De Panne general classification.

“I’m supper happy with my classics season,” Dillier told Cyclingnews about his most recent performances.

“My form was increasing from week to week, and accordingly, results in races. We have formed a very good composition which is now bearing fruits and I’m very pleased about that.”

Even though the 23-year old Swiss remains optimistic about his chances in his Ronde van Vlaanderen debut as he considers himself a well suited for this kind of courses, he also acknowledges difficulties that the hilly Flemish parcours will provide.

“During the reconnaissance I’ve had to realize how bloody difficult the finale would be.”

With Greg Van Avermaet appointed as an undisputed BMC captain for Ronde Van Vlaanderen, Dillier hopes to stay in the race as long as possible in order to support the team and gain a valuable experience for the future during his debut.

“I want to stay with a team as long as possible in order to support them in achieving our goal. But it’s also important to gain experience and the longer I stay in the race, the better for the future,” Swiss rider concluded.
