Silvan Dillier got an excellent start to his professional career. Although the 24-year-old failed to take a single victory, he finished in the top 10 no less than 16 times. “In any case I am very satisfied with my first season with the professionals,” he told radsport-news.com.

Dillier didn’t need any time to find his way at cycling’s elite level. Already at the Tour of Qatar in February, Dillier showed his talent with a sixth place on a stage. He was even better at the Three Days of West-Flanders in Belgium in early March where he was fifth in the prologue and fourth in the final stage which was enough to finish the race in sixth overall.

After aggressive performances in the spring classics and a fourth place in the Tour of Belgium time trial, Dillier achieved his first podium spot on home soil in mid-June when he was second in the GP Kanton Aargau. After an equally strong performance in the Tour de Suisse - "there I could really put myself into contention," said Dillier the BMC debutant was third in the time trial at the Swiss Championships.

After a four-week break, Dillier returned to racing at the Tour de Wallonie (2.HC) where he finished third in two stages and third overall. With good shap and lots of self-confidence, Dillier travelled to Hamburg for the Vattendall Cyclassics where he did well by finished ninth in the only German WorldTour race.

The final highlight was his participation in the Road World Championships in Ponferreda where BMC won the gold medal in the team time trial. “The end of the season with the Worlds title was terrific and a perfect ending of the firsts season, said the all-rounder who has already raised the bar for the 2015 season.

"I want to build on the achievements of 2014", said Dillier who not only wants to be back in the classics in 2015. “I would also like to do a three-week race,” he added.
