The UCI World Tour makes its way to Germany this weekend as the Cyclassics Hamburg takes place on Sunday. Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka will start the 217km single day race with our main target being a place on the podium.
The course is one which has seen some of the best sprinters in the world triumph in previous editions of the Cyclassics Hamburg. Look more closely at the result sheets though and you will notice that it has generally always been a significantly reduced peloton sprinting it out for the victory. The selections have been made as a result of the 3 tough city circuit laps that come in the final 40km of the race.
The African Team will have a powerful line-up of riders for the Cyclassics Hamburg with Edvald Boasson Hagen, as a previous winner of the event, leading our charge. Reinardt Janse van Rensburg and Mark Renshaw are two more fast finishing riders for Sunday, and together the trio give a great shot at challenging for the victory.
Bernie Eisel, Youcef Reguigui, Matt Brammeier, Jay Thomson and Adrien Niyonshuti will be the riders ensuring they have one of the strongest teams on the start line come Sunday.
Reinardt Janse van Rensburg said
"After a bit of a break, this is my first race after the Tour de France. I have been training well and I am looking forward to this last part of the season, starting in Hamburg. It's normally a race that comes down to a bunch sprint but the final circuit is not easy. Some teams will definitely be looking to break it up but we have a team that is prepared for all scenarios. We are motivated to go out and earn some crucial World Tour points this weekend. "
