Fifth at the omnium at the Rio Olympics, Thomas Boudat has spent his season botn on the track and the road but it's the road that the 23-year-old rider will now focus on. Professional for 2 years with Direct Energie, the talented sprinter has extended his contract for two years.
"It's been a good season. I did a lot of track racing and had two months where I did a lot of road racing. This is encouraging for the future!
"It's really over with the track, but I will continue to train there and do the French Championships. It will serve me for the road. However, I will not do international competitions like the European and World championships as it requires too much time and sacrifice,
"It's very simple: I want to win as many races as possible! I would like to do a Grand Tour. That would allow me to make better progress than if I was just doing the one day races. This is important if I want to take a step in my career.
"The contract extension allows to build a real project and do things right. One year passes very quickly, especially as I was not much on the road during the past two seasons. These next two years will be crucial for my career. I want to do well."
