Daniel Schorn spent six years at Bora-Argon 18 and its predecessor Team NetApp but there will not be a seventh season at the German Pro Continental team for the Austrian. In an interview with radsport-news.com, he does nothing to hide his disappointment.

"I've always been a loyal domestique for various captains. So it was surprising to me that I did not get a contract renewal, especially since I have contributed to some good results for the team," said Schorn.

The 27-year-old did not only contribute by riding as a domestique. In the summer, he achieved personal results with a third place in a stage at the Czech Cycling Tour (2.1), eighth place at Druivenkoers (1.1) and a third place in the Austrian Championships. "Especially the second half of the season went satisfactorily for me," said Schorn.

First, however, the Austrians had to cope with some setbacks. Until early March, the build-up for classics went well. "But then I was set back by an unplanned surgery in the saddle area which I had to undergoe due to an extensive, fat necrosis," said Schorn who had to skip the spring classics. He also had to skip his planned comeback in Frankfurt as the Eschborn Frankfurt City Loop was cancelled for safety reasons.

"I was left with nothing, not only because of the cancellation. I was also involved in a serious car accident while training in Taunus. My head hit a guardrail and I was unconscious ", Schorn said.

Fortunately, he was accompanied by Ralf Matzka and he called an ambulance which brought his teammate to the Klinikum Bad Homburg. "After that, the very important spring season was over for me and I had not even been able to play a decisive role in a single classic,” said Schorn who is still searching for a new team.
