Arthur Vichot proved that he is back in form when he finished third in the GP Plouay. Despite the outstanding result, the Frenchman was hugely disappointed as he felt he had the legs to win.
Arthur Vichot has not had the season he was hoping for. After winning a stage in Paris-Nice, injury caused him to miss the Ardennes classics and illness took him out of the Tour de France.
In the Tour de Limousin, a great performance indicated that the former French champion is getting back to his best and yesterday he was back in the spotlight on the WorldTour when he finished third in the GP Plouay. Having joined the right 7-rider group in the finale, he was beaten by Sylvain Chavanel and Andrea Fedi in the sprint.
However, the good result didn't leave a good feeling in the FDJ camp.
"The team worked really well," said manager Marc Madiot. "Arthur and Mattihieu [Ladagnous] were present in the finale. In the final kilometers, emerged, Arthur jumped into this group of seven riders who finished two seconds ahead of the peloton but in the sprint, he was boxed in. He had to brake twice. If he had had a clear run to the line, he would certainly have won. And that's why both he and we are disappointed. A podium is a good result but nothing is like a victory."
