Johan Le Bon was a little below his best in the time trial at the Tour du Poitou-Charentes and so could only make it into 10th in the GC. However, the day was still a memorable one for FDJ due to the morning win for Marc Sarreau.
"Johan perhaps did his worst time trial of the year," said sports director Yvon Madiot. "And he was very disappointed. Maybe he made the mistake of not having recovered enough after the morning stage and he started the time trial with sore legs but that is only my hypothesis."
Cycling is not an exact science and Le Bon lost lots of time. Jérémy Roy did a good time trial but could not console his teammate as he crashed four kilometres from the finish after having been sixth at the time check.
Nonetheles, there was a big smile at the dinner and the FDJ riders could celebrate the victory of Marc Sarreau after a clear sprint.
"The guys did a perfect job for me, said the young sprinter. "For me, the race lasted 800 meters. Until then, I had an armchair ride. The sprint was launched by Seb Chavanel and Mathieu Ladagnous. I finished the job."
"I was left disappointed in the Tour du Limousin so I'm very happy with my troops this week. It is a united team which wants to work. I see that Arthur Vichot is very eager every day to do the job for the team and is much better," Madiot said.
