The FDJ team had a disappointing day at the French TT championships as several riders had prepared for the event for several weeks.
On a bad day Johan Le Bon and Anthony Roux could only make it into the top 10 behind winner Jerome Coppel (IAM) while Alexandre Géniez had a minor crash that forced him to abandon after six kilometres of racing.
"It was not a good day for Johan and Anthony and we all know that it can happen," says manager Marc Madiot. "I think the first riders had an advantage over those who rode later, like Rostollan who rode early and ended in fourth place, but that does not explain everything."
Anthony Roux after the Giro and Johan Le Bon were really well prepared the race after the Giro and Boucles de la Mayenne respecively, with, the latter spending a few days in training behind the scooter of coach Sébastien Joly in the Drôme department but it was necessary to have good legs to benefit from that.
"Moreover Anthony destroyed his saddle and he suffered. He decided that it was better to continue but it was not an obvious choice," Madiot sayd.
Alexandre Géniez who returned to competition, has not had any luck. He crashed warly and had to abandon. He went back to the hotel by bike and the incident does not compromise his participation in the Tour de France.
