Lars Boom and Zdenek Stybar may do a few cyclo-cross races this winter. Cyclo-cross commentator Michel Wuyts from Belgian TV channel Sporza is against road riders stealing the most prestigious prizes from the cyclo-cross riders. "Will there be for a few strong road riders who steal the points and prizes in the most important races?" he asks in his column in Het Laatste Nieuws.
Boom's manager has made it clear that the Astana Dutchman plans to do a few races. Boom has confirmed the news even though it depends on what his team says. Etixx-QuickStep rider Stybar plans to do a few races around New Year and has mentioned the races in Loenhout, Baal and Leuven as possibilities. None of the former world champions have made a final decision.
Commentator Wuyts warns against the current road racers snatching the points and makes a proposal. "For the Championships I ask for a rule: mandatory participation in twenty racesbeforehand," said the Belgian. "Otherwise you can't do the title races. The current rules are clearly not fair."
