Alex Dowsett (Movistar) is back at the top of the British time trial hierachy after he took back the national title that he lost 12 month ago. The former Hour Record holder was in a class of his own, beating Edmund Bradbury (NFTO) by 3.31 and Aaron Perry by 3.51.
Last year Alex Dowsett saw his impressive run of success at the British time trial championship come to an end when Bradley Wiggins broke his streak of three consecutive wins, with the Movistar rider having to settle for third. With Wiggins focused on the track, Dowsett was eager to reclaim his title when he lined up as the big favourite for the 2015 edition of the race and he fully lived up to expectations.
With all the major British professionals all absent, Dowsett was always going to be the man to beat and the outcome was never in doubt. The Movistar rider put time into his rivals throught the entire 44.8km course in Cadwell Park before stopping the clock in 1.00.11 to take the win. Edmund Bradbury was a distant second, 3.31 off Dowsett's mark.
Dowsett will have a chance to make it two in a row at the road race championships on Sunday where he will be up against most of the Sky contingent and the Yates brothers.
