Australian Brenton Jones will join JLT Condor next season from Drapac Pro Cycling team.

The twenty-four year old from Victoria, Australia is the final addition to the British squad’s 2017 line-up, which sees the Men in Black retain Ed Clancy, Russell Downing and pursuit champion Alex Frame.

Jones will focus on Bay Crits and Herald Sun Tour when the team begin their season on January 1st in Australia. Jones won the points classification at the Tour de Korea in 2016, as well as two stages of the race and will front the head of the JLT Condor lead out train, supported by powerhouse, Ed Clancy and seasoned sprinter, Russell Downing.

Team Manager, John Herety, has been closely following Jones after seeing him at the 2015 Bay Crits.

“Brenton is a huge talent and a proven fastman. The team raced at the Tour of Korea in early 2016 and Brenton impressed me in the sprint stages.”

Herety says he has a clear role for the new Australian signing.

“Brenton’s addition to the squad, along with the re-signing of former World Pursuit champion, Alex Frame, further bolsters our sprint options, keeping us competitive at races we are targeting in Australia, America and in Britain.”

Jones is currently in Australia preparing for 2017 season.

"With the team coming to the Australia for the last few years I’m already familiar with how well its run. My team manager this year Tom Southam, who was, of course, a manager and rider with the JLT Condor in the past and he has spoke very highly of the set up," he said.
 

"Moving to the UK scene will be a new and exciting challenge and one I’m really looking forward too. I think the combination of criteriums and UCI stage races that are such large part of the teams race program will suit my style and I can’t wait to get started.

"My early aims are quite simple really, I want to do well in the Bay Crits, the Aussie Nationals, in particular the Crit champs. They all take place the first week of January so it’s going to be a busy start. After that my program is still being decided based on what race invites the team accepts. However one things for certain, I am looking forward to going full gas at the Tour Series!"
