Following his successful Eneco Tour, Tom Dumoulin will be back in action when he lines up at the Tour of Alberta next week. The Dutchman will target a good overall result while also preparing for the Canadian WorldTour races.
Team Giant-Shimano heads over to North America for the six day Tour of Alberta that gets underway next Tuesday, starting a trio of Canadian races.
The Canadian stage race will be one that the team use for both building shape and to target results. The team comes to the race with Jonas Ahlstrand for the sprints, together with a strong, attacking line-up giving them several different cards to play.
Tom Dumoulin returns to racing after a strong showing at the Eneco Tour, while Dries Devenyns (BEL) makes a welcome return after his heavy fall at the Tour de France.
"Alberta provides us with the opportunity for some riders to prepare for coming objectives while we can also be aggressive in scoring results," said coach Aike Visbeek. "We can target the sprints with Jonas, while Simon [Geschke] and Tom [Dumoulin] will aim for a strong prologue after which we will look at the GC possibilities.
"We will need to be prepared for crosswinds at this race though many of the stages look like they will suit the sprints. Overall we have a strong team who can challenge well across the different stages here."
