Samuel Dumoulin (Ag2r) may not be a pure sprinter but today he surprised himself by taking second in the bunch sprint on stage 2 of the Criterium du Dauphiné.
"I am satisfied with my second place," he said. "Some sprinters have participated to the Giro and are really strong. I was really motivated for this race. It was a strategic sprint. I had to be patient. Nacer Bouhanni is one of the best sprinters in the world. I am not strong enough to beat him but some world-class sprinters werebehind me today.
Tomorrow the team time trial is an important stage for AG2R LA MONDIALE Pro Cycling Team for the overall as well as to prepare for the Tour de France TTT. We will be focused on our strategy."
