Samuel Dumoulin tried to score points for the Coupe de France standings by mixing it up in the bunch sprint in La Roue Tourangelle. The Frenchman came away with 6th in the 8th round of the series.
"I am always happy to be back in the mix but during La Roue Tourangelle, I thought I could win," he wrote on his personal website. "The race was marked by several crashes, including one that eliminated Bryan Coquard in the finale. Without the favorite, I could hope for the win but I found myself alone due to various incidents for my teammates. I did not know too much about that when I started my sprint. I took the wheel of Alexandre Blain, I led was in the lead with 70 meters to go but then five riders passed me."
Since the beginning of the season, Sam Dumoulin has taken nine places in the top ten. He also won the Drôme Classic and is fourth in the Coupe de France.
