The 75th edition of Volta a Portugal kicked off today with a 5.3km prologue in the guise of a team time trial.
Taking only six minutes and 39 seconds to complete the course through the streets of Lisbon, Dutch team Cycling Team de Rijka-Shanks took victory two seconds ahead of Leopard-trek Continental team.
25-year-old Christophe Phingsten will be wearing the race leader’s jersey during stage 1 tomorrow.
