Egoitz Garcia will be provide experience to the new Badque Murias Taldea team that will be led by manager Jon Odriozola. After three years at Cofidis, the Spaniard will be one of the captains of the continental team.
Biciciclismo reports that Egoitz Garcia will be one of the leaders of the Murias Taldea team and will be one of the riders that will be presented in Bilbao next week. During his three years at Cofidis, he did two Tours de France and Vueltas a Espana, races like Paris-Nice and especially the cobbled classics. His experience will be important for manager Jon Odriozola, especially in the French races of which the Basque team hope to do a lot. He will not be the only former professional that will be signed to lead the team in the most important races.
In 2014 he started his season with a podium spot in La Tropicale Amissa Bongo, was sixth in the Spanish road race championships and ninth in Omloop Het Nieuwsblad. In the Tour de France, he had to abandon in stage 9 and later he just did the Tour du Limousin and the Paris-Brussels, ending the year with only 55 days of competition and without confidence from Cofidis manager Yvon Sanquer. The French team announced its final 25-rider roster and there was no room for Egoitz Garcia even though Spanish company Orbea will be providing bikes for the team in 2015. In 2013, he was third at the Circuito de Getxo and in 2012 he won Paris-Correze overall.
In 2010, Garcia made his debut with Caja Rural and after two years he joined Cofidis.
