End of the road for Southeast ? Ramon Carretero, 24 years old, failed an anti-doping test for EPO ahead of the Tour of Turkey. He was selected to ride Giro d’Italia, but he pulled out of the race during the first week dur to influenza. But maybe he knew a doping case was on the horizon.

"I’m without words. What am I going to tell the sponsors now?" General manager Angelo Citracca told Italian website Tutto Bici. "He represents a country. I’m truly surprised. I don’t know what to say."

Citracca knew a lot of doping cases. In 2013, Danilo Di Luca and Mauro Santambrogio showed his best in the Giro d’Italia. Di Luca failed a test for EPO. About the second rider, who won a stage and finished 9th overall, it was revealed he tested positive for EPO.

The next year, Matteo Rabottini, the Giro mountains classification winner in 2012, failed also an out-of-competition EPO test in 2014.

For the 2016 season, Citracca is trying to find an other sponsor. He is currently in France to meet companies. But RCS Sport, the Giro d’Italia organizer, may to not invite Citracca’s team. In this case, we could say that it was the end of one of cycling’s most controversial teams in last five years.
