Patrick Lefevere, Etixx-QuickStep general manager, has told Cyclingnews he is close to signing Dan Martin from Cannondale-Garmin. It would be the first time that Martin has ridden in a team not managed by Jonathan Vaughters since he turned pro in 2008.
Trek have also been linked to the rider and Team Sky confirmed they wouldn’t be signing the 28 year old Irishman.
Lefevere spoke to Cyclingews and he said that “I hope but you’re never sure before the agreement is signed but we’re close,” about his hopes of getting Martin, a two-time Monument winner.
