Survival?
"We're not there yet, "but we're getting there," Euskadi manager Miguel Madariaga said to Cyclingweeks a few weeks ago, about the continuation of the Euskadi team.
"We're in a better place than we were six weeks ago, that's for sure. And" - referring to the current dearth of teams south of the Pyrenees - "this is very important both for the Basque Country and for Spain."
"I'm giving myself until the week of the 25th," Madariaga then said about how long he wanted to continue his search for."
Now it looks like there might be hope for the Spanish continental team, despite a reported budget shortage of €100,000 (according to Europa Press). Allegedly team manager Madariaga has 15 days to close the budget gap and save his team.
The solution will no doubt help an already pressed Spanish cycling scene, where numerous rider (Samuel Sanchez and Igor Anton for instance) are currently unemployed.
