At the start of the 2015 Tour de France, there are very many contenders with amongst other things Alberto Contador, who won the Tour du Sud last week, Nairo Quintana, Chris Froome and Vincenzo Nibali, the title holder. So, it is very difficult to bet on the winner. But Cadel Evans, the first Australian to win the Tour de France in 2011, told about the "Big Four".
"Not only his Tour de France performance [from last year], but he has also won the Giro, Vuelta a Espana and the Tour. He knows how to win Grand Tours", Evans explained according to Cyclingnews. With only 35 race days, he will be coming into the Tour a lot fresher. "He has not been winning in February and March. He has been doing an old school way [of preparation]."
The first week will be very important for the main contenders. The Astana Pro Team leader "will be less scared than anyone else". "He will be looking forward to the cobbled stage. Weather and luck will always be a factor, but as a bike handler he is very good."
This season, the 30 year-old rider finished 10th overall in the Tour de Romandie, 12th overall in the Critérium du Dauphiné, 13th in the LiËge-Bastogne-LiËge.
But what is Cadel Evans' bet for the podium? "Nibali, Quintana and Froome. Iím not saying in which order though."
