ORICA-BikeExchange return to the German one day classic Cyclassics Hamburgthis Sunday with an eight man team looking to do well in the 21st edition of the race.

22-year-old Australian sprinter Caleb Ewan will be making his first appearance in the 250kilometre WorldTour race that is traditionally dominated by the fast men.

Ewan will be up against a world-class field and alongside teammate Luka Mezgecwill be looking to build on the developing relationship the pair began to form in this years Giro d’Italia.

Road captain and Paris Roubaix winner Mathew Hayman returns along withChristian Meier and Australian’s Luke Durbridge and Mitch Docker to give the team a powerful core.

Sport director Matt White is pleased to have a strong and motivated team for the race, but highlighted that this will be the first race since the Tour de France for half of the squad.

“It is always a long and relatively steady kind of race,” said White. “The parcours is usually straightforward and with technical finishing circuit that includes the steep final climb, the race has the potential to suit our characteristics.

“Most of the guys are coming back to racing after the Tour and for Daryl Impey andMichael Albasini, the Olympics also and there isn’t many better races than this one to help find your racing legs again.

“The race will be a good experience for Caleb (Ewan) because he will be lining up against the Crème de la Crème of the sprinting world giving him the opportunity to test himself against the worlds best.

“We have a super team for the race and we are all highly motivated to achieve a good result here, we have balance and experience within the team that gives us strengths for each eventuality.”

The race normally follows a 230-250kilometre route that starts and finishes in downtown Hamburg, in 2014 Simon Gerrans finished in 3rd place giving ORICA-BikeExcgange its best result so far in the one day race.

The parcours heads out of town and into the suburbs over rolling urban roads before turning into a difficult finishing circuit which tackles the tough Waseberg hill three times before the finale.
