After Miguel Angel Rubiano won the Colombian road race championships, his Colombia team has taken the unprecedented step to ask the fans to choose the design of his new jersey. Fans can choose from three different options and express their opining via Twitter and Facebook.

Thanks to Team Colombia Miguel Angel Rubiano’s success in Cartagena (Colombia) on Saturday April 12th, in a few days – atFleche Wallonne – the Colombian National Champion’s jersey will make its appearance in European races, showing up for the first time in some of the biggest races in the World, such as Liege-Bastogne-Liege and, obviously, Giro d’Italia.

In cooperation with technical supplier Nalini, Claudio Corti and his staff are already working to realize the new jersey, but after receiving a huge bunch of messages and suggestions from fans through the social networks, Team Colombia’s General Manager opted to launch an unprecedented initiative.

“We know very well how strong the Colombian national pride is, and the importance this symbol has for all our South-American supporters," Corti explained. "So we wish to hear their opinion too. We set up three possible options for Miguel’s new jersey, and the fans will be able to get us their feedbacks on Facebook and Twitter: the one that gets the most preferences, will be Rubiano’s jersey at the Giro d’Italia.”

Fans will be able to choose among a jersey with white background and the Colombian tricolor on the chest, a black one with yellow, blue and red stripes on the shoulders, and one that mirrors the Colombian flag’s colors on the whole jersey.

It will be possible for supporters to take position on the Team’s official Facebook page (facebook.com/ColombiaCyclingPro), by commenting and clicking “like” on the selected option, and on Twitter, by using the hashtag #RubianoTricolor.

The “referendum” will end on Wednesday, April 16th, at 23.59 CET.
