Despite enjoying a fairly successful second part of the season, Lars Boom decided not to participate in the upcoming World Championships, citing fatigue as a reason.
Boom didn’t take a deserved break following his Tour de France campaign but rode Clasica San Sebastian, Eneco Tour and Grand Prix de Plouay instead, so it couldn’t come as a surprise that a fatigue eventually took its tool and Belkin rider ruled himself out of the road race in Ponferrada.
“After the Tour, criteriums, Clasica San Sebastian and Eneco Tour I noticed that I was tired. It’s been quite a long and hard block of racing. Therefore, I wasn’t able to optimally prepare myself to World Championships,” Boom said, according to NOS.nl.
