After the disappointment of stage 3, FDJ sports director was smiling at the end of stage 4 of the Vuelta a Esoana.. The FDJ team did a nice fourth stage even if the result does not show it. In Vejer de la Frontera, Mickael Delage led by example.
"I saw a professional team," Franck Pineau said. "The instructions were followed. I wanted to be in the breakaway of the day at all costs and Mickael Delage escaped right from the start. In the pack, the other riders of the team took care of Kenny Elissonde and Olivier Le Gac."
The group of six escapees got nearly 14 minutes but made the mistake of riding hard too soon. Delage was brought back
"In the end, Kevin Reza positioned Olivier le Gac and at the foot of the final climb, he was fifth. With that good position, he responded to the attack of Van der Sande (Lotto-Soudal). At the top, Kenny Elissonde conceded 41 seconds to winner Valverde (Movistar) but the day was good. In the bus I saw smiles.
"Today only the result was missing but our riders have respected the order: they are united in solidarit and that's how we get to a point where we'll pick up a result. "
