Having already announced 8 riders, FDJ.fr have finalized their Tour de France roster by selecting the 9th and final rider of the team that will be led by Arnaud Demare and Thibaut Pinot. Cedric Pineau earned himself the spot while Francis Mourey failed to get a Tour debut in 2014.
Last week FDJ.fr announced the first 8 riders on their Tour de France roster. Most of the attention was taken by the fact that the team had decided to leave Nacer Bouhanni at home.
Instead, Arnaud Demare will be the sole leader in the sprints and he will be supported by lead-out men Mickael Delage and William Bonnet who are both part of his personal train. Classics specialist Matthieu Ladagnous will also be on hand to provide support in the bunch kicks.
A second part of the roster is built around Thiabut Pinot who hopes to make up for last year's disappointment. In his debut two years ago he finished 10th and won a stage and last year he finished 7th in the Vuelta a Espana. His team hopes that he will again be able to mix it up with the best in the overall standings and he can count on an in-form Arnold Jeannesson to support him in the mountains.
French champion Arthur Vichot will targets success in the hilly stages while time trial specialist Jeremy Roy will be able to offer support in all terrains.
The final spot would go to either Francis Mourey and Cedric Pineau and the decision would be made after the French road race championships that were held yesterday. Now the team has made up its mind and it ended up being loyal domestique Pineau who earned himself the right to start his second Tour de France.
As opposed to this, cyclo-cross specialist and climber Francis Mourey will have to postpone his debut in the race after having done the Giro d'Italia earlier this season.
