After the end of the Tour of Poland, FDJ sports director Franck Pineau draws a positive balance for a race where he led a team of riders coming back and youngsters.
" We have not made a race of champions but the balance is positive," he said. "I saw a team of promising youg riders. This Tour of Poland had two distinct parts. In the first, Lorrenzo Manzin had the opportunity to express himself even if though he crashed in the second stage. The collaboration with Olivier Le Gac is very promising. Olivier seems to take great pleasure in riding for his young sprinter. It is a task that is dear to his heart!"
The second part of the Tour de Pologne was for climbers and even though Kenny Elissonde had to settle for 23rd place after the final time trial in Krakow, he has worked hard.
"In the first decisive stage, Kenny made the right move 50 kilometers from the finish and was left behind on the last climb but he only lost 2 minutes at the finis," Pineau said. "The next day, he anticipated by joining a breakaway of 21 riders in the company of Arnold Jeannesson. That day, Arnold was impressive for three hours. It was probably the best three hours of his season. Unfortunately, there was a lack of organization as the time gaps of three minutes were wrong. Suddenly the front group was caught without anyone understanding anything! It's a shame but the organization of this stage was hopeless and that leaves a bad taste. However, I remember that my riders fought well."
